Another work by horror author Grady Hendrix has been picked up for screen adaptation. According to Deadline, Sony has preemptively picked up the film rights to Hendrix’s short story, “Ankle Snatcher.”

“Ankle Snatcher” was part of Amazon’s Creature Feature collection, which came out in September 2023 and included new stories from Hendrix as well as Joe Hill, Paul Tremblay, Josh Malerman, Jason Mott, and Chandler Baker. Hendrix’s story centers around a man named Marcus, whose father murdered his mother (or so Marcus thinks) and blamed the death on the boogeyman. Marcus never quite believed that, but one night when his girlfriend comes over… stuff happens. Hendrix will be penning the script for the adaptation, and he’ll be producing along with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Tony Shaw from Escape Artists, and Adam Goldworm from Aperture Entertainment.

This is the first short story of Hendrix’s to get the adaptation treatment, but far from the first of his works to do so. His novel, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, got a feature on Prime Video, and several other works of his are also in development, including How to Sell a Haunted House at Legendary, The Final Girl Support Group at Max, The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires at HBO, and Horrorstör at New Republic.

This project is still in its early days, so no news yet on casting or if/when the film will enter production. icon-paragraph-end
